J and B Return to NY's Club Cumming

The bank doesn’t grant any holidays in August,

.…but that doesn’t mean today’s not worth celebrating! Hope the dog days haven’t slobbered too unbearably this liminal summer. Meanwhile the brothers Lipson are as musical as ever:After 16 months practicing trombone, Benny fulfilled his dream tooting from atop a table a couple weeks back at Tramp Stamp Granny’s. Now he’s added tuba to his armory and has grown into a decent engineer at mom and dad’s new home studio. I scored and recorded the theme song and incidental to Two in the Bush’s debut comedy zenroom while slowly chiseling my jazz piano chops. Of course we haven’t stopped writing new songs and jamming together on favorites in our pastel-pink living room.

Though naturally we couldn’t resist the concert stage throughout. Benny and I fronted two drive-in programs with California Center for the Arts, Escondido  one featuring music of Billy Joel and Elton John, the other the beloved Beatles. In Oceanside and Newport Beach we played and arranged 3 shows with dynamite songstress Nina Herzog including an e-gala for nonprofit ElkhartCares  But nothing beats backing mom Valerie Perri’s sensational return to the stage at Desert Theatricals' elegant amphitheater in Rancho Mirage.

We’ll share some of those lockdown fruits Sunday, September 12, 8pm as we bring our latest romp, Sing Your Song to Manhattan’s Club Cumming one of our favorite rooms we were scheduled to play last March. Nearly half this East Village program comprises never-before-heard songs, coming to life by the sticks of  extraordinary David Lamoureux on percussion. Plus dazzling singer-actor Katheryne Penny helps deliver three originals. We love best the Club’s intimacy…but in turn, space is limited. Prudent friends have already reserved their seats; we encourage you join the parade as soon’s you’re able. You $ave this way too!
We’ll also back TikTok icon and Broadway vet Barbara Dixon’s one-woman bonanza, Everything’s Coming Up Barbara Friday, September 10 at Green Room 42. Hope to see you in the City and wishing you sustained health, wherever you are!

Love,
Jack
